If you have been following our blog, you know that we love eating almost as much as we love hiking. So of course, we like to have good food when we are on the trail. We thought we could share a few of our absolute must have treats when trekking through the mountains.

Tortilla with Nutella

You can’t go wrong with this simple yet amazing delicious treat. We always limit this snack when day hiking because we don’t want to consume more calories than we are burning. (Who are we kidding… we probably consume more calories about 90% of the time. Ha. We just can’t help ourselves).

Clif Bars

This is always the go to when hunger hits but we need to continue gaining miles. The White Chocolate Macadamia Nut is like eating a cookie. Plus, they keep us pretty full. If we don’t stop for our usual Chick-Fil-A breakfast on the way to the trailhead, then we will grab one of these and eat it while driving.

Bobo’s Oat Bars

This is a new recent find because I’ve recently had to go gluten and dairy free. They have some very delicious flavors like coconut almond chocolate chip, chocolate chip, and lemon poppyseed. They also have new stuffed bars filled with almond butter or peanut butter. Yum! Just like Clif Bars these are an easy grab and go snack that allows us to continue gaining miles on the trail.

Krave Beef Jerky

A while back we just happened to pass by Krave Beef Jerky and it was on sale, so we picked up some to try and we haven’t looked back. The Black Cherry flavor is amazing. The other flavors might be great but we just can’t pass up that Black Cherry! If we have any of this jerky in our packs, it usually doesn’t last very long.


Just like the tortillas, bagels are very simple but when you are in need of some carbs for a burst of energy in the backcountry these are great!

As you can see, even though we like to eat whether on or off the trail, we don’t like our meal times to slow us down on the trail as we try to pack in all of the miles we can during the day. If we are planning a hiking trip, there is about a 99% chance that these snacks are in our pack.
